Sunday, October 3, 2010

WEST TERRE HAUTE -- Woods Day Care/Preschool will host an Open House for anyone who would like to learn more about the facilities, curriculum, teachers, set-up, equipment and playgrounds dedicated to the development of young children.

The Open House will be from noon-3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 17. Refreshments will be served.

Advisory board members will be available to meet and greet visitors. Teachers will be available in different classrooms who can talk about the curriculum and activities offered at Woods Day Care/Preschool.

WDC/PS offers age-appropriate curriculum for the full development of young children. It has met standards for national accreditation and has the highest quality rating offered by the State of Indiana.

Woods Day Care is a state-of-the-art facility with six classrooms. It opened in 1987 and moved into its new facility in 2002. The facility and staff provide a safe, clean and comfortable environment for many children of the Wabash Valley, including Vigo, Parke, Vermillion, Clay and Sullivan counties in Indiana and Clark and Edgar counties in Illinois.

Six certified teachers are on staff, along with 15 teachers' aides. A total of 24 paid employees and nine Sisters of Providence volunteers provide a nurturing environment for young children with developing minds and bodies. The grounds at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods also offer children unique learning experiences through natural surroundings and alpacas that are raised and cared for on the grounds.

Woods Day Care/Preschool is open to children ages 6 weeks to 6 years and children of all faith traditions.
