Wednesday, October 6, 2010

TERRE HAUTE -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will host its first touring musical production with "S Wonderful: The New Gershwin Musical," bringing its all-singing and dancing celebration to the Hatfield Hall Theater stage Sunday.

The show, beginning at 3 p.m., is part of the college's Performing Arts Series. General admission tickets are $28 for adults and $18 for students/youth. Discounted tickets are available with a "Pick Your Own Series" package.

"S Wonderful" is filled with the legendary music of George and Ira Gershwin, the most successful songwriting team in the history of popular music. The show includes timeless classics as "Swanee," "Rhapsody in Blue," "Fascinating Rhythm," "Strike Up The Band," "Let's Call The Whole Thing Off," "Nice Work If You Can Get It," "Summertime," "I've Got Rhythm," Someone To Watch Over me," "Funny Face," and more.

The show features five mini-musicals, presented by six performers, inspired by the Gershwins' lives.

Rose-Hulman's Performing Arts Series will continue Oct. 22, with popular entertainer Jim Brickman performing a concert at 8 p.m., at Hatfield Hall.
