Clay County Justice Center officials confirmed to The Brazil Times Kristin N. Sauer, 39, was transported from Vigo County Jail Tuesday evening so she could appear for formal court proceedings involving an arrest warrant issued Sept. 30.
According to information at the courthouse, the arrest warrant stemmed from an incident that allegedly occurred sometime Sept. 8-9.
Clay County Sheriff's Department investigators responded to a reported domestic dispute during which Sauer is alleged to have caused injury by hitting and lunging at an unidentified male victim in front of a juvenile.
During the course of the investigation, officials allegedly discovered Sauer did "knowingly receive, retain or dispose" of a 2004 Jeep Liberty reported stolen to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department and was in possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana.
Sauer appeared before Circuit Court Judge Joseph Trout to be advised of her rights, the charges and the potential penalties if found guilty of the allegations. Attorney Geoffrey Creason was appointed counsel and she entered a plea of not guilty.
A jury trial was tentatively scheduled for Jan. 24, 2011.
Bond was set at $7,000 cash with 10 percent allowed and a no contact was ordered on behalf of the victim.
Sauer remains incarcerated while awaiting further formal court proceedings.
