No paper Monday
Due to the Columbus Day holiday scheduled Monday, The Brazil Times will not publish a newspaper.
The Times will publish a newspaper Tuesday, Oct. 12.

City Hall Closed
Brazil City Hall will be closed Monday in observance of the Columbus Day holiday.
City Hall will reopen Tuesday.
In addition, the Sanitation Department will run one day behind in its normal trash pickup schedule.

The City of Brazil's Sanitation Department is conducting heavy trash pickup on the following Fridays, based on normal trash pickup schedule:
* Today -- Tuesday's trash route,
* Oct. 22 -- Wednesday's trash route, and
* Oct. 29 -- Thursday's trash route.
Heavy trash pickup must be reserved and may be done by calling City Hall at 443-2221 or the Brazil City Street Department at 448-8501.
The Cunot Community Center is currently taking donations for a yard sale coming up in October.
Those interested in donating may drop off items at the center, Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
Food Pantry Open
The Cunot Community Center Food Pantry is open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 9-11 a.m.
Those interested in utilizing the pantry must bring identification with current address.

The Cunot Community Center is taking donations for its upcoming Halloween party.
The center needs candy, prizes, décor for haunted houses and more, including help to set up the party.

Meeting date changed
The Harmony Town Council will conduct its Oct. 12, 2010, meeting at 7 p.m., at the Harmony Community Center rather than the first Tuesday of the month.
The meeting will take place in conjunction with the adoption of the 2011 budget.
St. Vincent Clay Hospital will offer seasonal flu vaccines and pneumonia vaccines to residents of Clay County on the following dates, times and locations:
* Today -- 8:30-9:30 a.m., at Meridian Towers,
* Today -- 10-11 a.m., at Jackson Gardens,
* Today -- 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at Brazil Senior Center, and
* Today -- 2-3 p.m., at Cooper Towers.
Cost for the flu vaccine is $25 and the pneumonia vaccine is $65, for those without Medicare Part B.

The Clay County Republican Club will host a Freedom Concert at North Clay Middle School.
The event will take place from 6-8:30 p.m., today.
Live entertainment and food will be provided.
The Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department will conduct its monthly breakfast from 7-11 a.m., Saturday.
The menu will consist of biscuits and gravy, pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage.
Share Food signups will take place from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, at First Christian Church, 1875 W. United States 40, Brazil.
Pick up for food will take place from 9-10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, also at the church.
The Center Point Town Council will conduct its October meeting Saturday, at the town hall, beginning at 9 a.m.
The adoption of the proposed 2011 budget is on the agenda.
All residents are encouraged to attend.
The lawn of French Funeral Home will be converted into a pumpkin patch Saturday for the organization's 10th Pumpkin Giveaway.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., and will last until noon or while pumpkins last.
The Clay County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, will host the third Harvest Hoedown Saturday, at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds.
The event will feature a barbecue dinner served by Pappy's Bar-B-Que, from 4:30-7 p.m.
Cornhole tournaments will take place and organized children's games with prizes are scheduled. A silent auction will also take place and live music by Country 90 Proof and campfire are slated.
Tickets are $15 per person and $5 for children 12-under and may be purchased in advance at any Riddell National Bank location.
Teens for Liberty Generation Joshua Club will host a public debate between Democrat Charles Hear and Republican Lee Reberger, candidates for Clay County Prosecutor, in October.
The event will take place at 7 p.m., Tuesday, in the meeting room at the Y of Clay County, 225 E. Kruzan St., Brazil.
A fall political forum has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 13.
The Clay County Chamber of Commerce and Clay County Farm Bureau will sponsor the event.
All candidates are invited to the forum, which will take place at the Clay County Fairgrounds.
The lawn of Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 E. 8th St., Clay City, will be converted into a pumpkin patch Saturday, Oct. 16.
The funeral home's annual Pumpkin Giveaway for children will take place that day.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., and conclude at noon, or while pumpkins last.
The Bowling Green Order of the Eastern Star No. 304 Turkey Supper will take place Saturday, Oct. 16.
Times are 4:30-7 p.m., and the event will take place at the Bowling Green Community Center.
Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children.
Drinks and desserts will be included in the meal price. Carry-out will be available.
The event has been scheduled as a fundraiser for the group.

The Brazil Public Library will host Ghost Hunting 101, at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 25.
The program will be presented by the Illiana Paranormal Research Team.
The original program, scheduled to take place Thursday, Sept. 23, was to be presented by Indiana Ghost Trackers.
