Knights fall out of top spot

For the first time this season, the Northview Marching Knights are not the top-ranked Class B band at www.indianamarching.com.

The website's writer's poll from the fifth week of the season has the Knights ranked second, six votes out of first-place. The polls include the preseason poll.

Northview finished this week with 110 votes, including one first-place vote, for second.

Greenwood climbed to the top of the poll this week with 116 votes, including five first-place nods. Greenwood was ranked third last week.

Jasper ranks third with 108 votes, including two first-place votes.

Jasper ranked second last week.

Goshen ranks fourth with 98 votes, followed by Concord (81 votes), New Castle Chrysler and Northridge (each with 74 votes), Plainfield (56), North Side (55) and DeKalb (53).

Concord made the biggest jump this week after ranking in a tie for seventh with Plainfield in the week three poll.

North Side is also new to the top 10 this week.

In Class D, Lewis Cass remains the top-ranked band with 116 votes, including five first-place nods.

Springs Valley is second with 115 votes.

The Clay City Imperial Regiment had received votes in the poll until last week, reaching as high as 13th in the preseason poll.

Clay City ranked 16th in the Sept. 20 poll, earning 11 votes.

Rounding out the Class D week 5 top 10 were Forest Park (105 votes), Paoli (93), Woodlan (87), Southridge (76), Orleans (68), Adams Central (65), Mater Dei (46) and Monrovia (37).

The Marching Knights will compete in the Cavalcade of Champions Saturday at Center Grove High School.

Northview is scheduled to take the field at 8:51 p.m., and will compete against Zionsville, Whiteland, Pendleton Heights, Plainfield, Bloomington South, Decatur Central, Jasper and Greenwood.

Clay City will compete in the Decatur Central Invitational Saturday and will take the field at 11 a.m., followed by Eastern (Greentown) at 11:13 a.m., and Orleans at 11:26.

Both county bands also earned Gold ratings in District competition last week and will compete at the Regional level Saturday, Oct. 16.

Small set back that doesn't mean a lot. They were kinda busy, MAKING A COMMERCIAL. I mean they got 25G's. I have EVERY confidence that they will be on top in the end.
