The 2010 season couldn't have gone much better for the North Clay volleyball teams as the three squads went a combined 42-5 this year after each defeated St. Patricks on Thursday evening.
The North Clay seventh-grade put the wraps on an undefeated, 19-0 season with a 25-6, 25-15 victory paced by Madison McDonald, who had eight points, six aces, two kills and two assists. Morgan Stearley added five points and two kills and teammate, Ashley Heck also provided five points in the victory. Kaytlin Galloway was a force with four points, two aces and an assist while Kaylee Cooper provided three points, two aces and an assist for the Knights. Breeanna Dove and Faith Wells each had three service points with Dove also adding a kill along with Jordan Mills. Zoe Orman had two points and Madison Trusty, Lauren Atkinson and Alyssa Yocom each had one point.
The eighth-grade team posted a 25-16, 20-25, 15-14 win against St. Pats led by seven assists, six points, an ace and a kill from Taylor Hess. She had plenty of help as McKenzi Kumpf drilled eight kills and passed out four assists with Deaven McCrocklin providing six points with two aces. Mannah Mace had two points and three kills with Mikayla Rowan adding four points, two aces, three kills and a block in the win. Also for the Knights, Sydney Buell smashed four kills and both Madison Nevins and Samantha Smith were credited with four points. Smith also had a kill for the Knights. Gracie Geswein dished out three assists and Hannah Minor had a multitude of digs on the defensive side.
North Clay's eighth-grade capped the year with a 17-1 overall mark.
In the sixth-grade mach, North Clay started slow, but finished strong to post a 20-25, 25-14, 15-3 victory led by 13 points, five aces, six assists and two kills from Kenzie Stearley. She was aided by an eight-point effort from Stacy Payton, who added six assists, a kill and had six aces. Madison Russell had four points with two aces and Samantha Thomas had three points.
North Clay's sixth-grade wraps up the season with a 6-4 mark.
