INDIANAPOLIS -- The lawn across from the Riley Children's Hospital Outpatient Center was bustling with more than 1,000 former Riley patients and family members gathered to reunite and share stories with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) physicians, nurses and staff, Saturday, Sept. 11.

The annual event was hosted by the Riley Children's Hospital NICU staff.

Two Clay County children attended the event.

Kaylee Laznik
Kaylee Laznik, 3, Brazil, was in attendance. Kaylee is the daughter of Charity and Ricky Laznik.

Also in attendance was Haylee Davis, 7. Haylee is the daughter of Robert and Tina Davis.

According to information provided by Riley Children's Hospital Foundation officials, both Kaylee and Haylee were at the facility at birth and both were premature. Thus, they both spent quite a bit of time in NICU.

The event featured two speakers, including Riley Hospital for Children President and CEO Dan Fink, and Former Director of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the hospital, Dr. Jim Lemons.

An autograph session with USA Gymnasts Jaycie Phelps and Bridget Sloan also took place.

In addition, games and activities were available for the children, including crafts, a bounce house, safety information, a car seat clinic, nutrition advice, community resources and more.

Children also had the opportunity to take a look inside an ambulance and how they may have been transported to Riley Hospital.
