The following is a list of upcoming events provided to The Brazil Times:

Cub Scout meeting

Children in grades first- through fifth-grade are encouraged to join Clay County Cub Scouts Pack 101.

The group meets regularly on Monday evenings at First Christian Church, 1875 W. United States 40, Brazil. The meetings begin at 6:30 p.m.

Those interested in joining or wanting more information are encouraged to contact Den Leader Heather Mullenix at 812-201-8296.

Yard sale

The Cunot Community Center will conduct a yard sale today and Saturday.

All proceeds from the yard sale will go for the center's upcoming Halloween party.

The Cunot Community Center is taking donations for the party.

The center needs candy, prizes, décor for haunted houses and more, including help to set up the party.

Dance! Dance!

The YMCA of Clay County Youth Dance will take place today, from 8-10:30 p.m.

Dances are open to youth in sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders.

The facility is located at 225 E. Kruzan St., Brazil.

Students should be prepared to show their school identification to verify their age.

Cost to attend the dance is $5.

Milo Miller will serve as DJ for the evening.

Concessions will be available in the Community Room.

Staff and volunteers from the Y will serve as chaperones and parents are welcome to stay as well.

Date Change

Due to the Covered Bridge Festival taking place, the Wesley Chapel Food Bank will suspend activities this weekend.

Monthly, the food bank is open on the third Saturday of each month.

To compensate for this weekend, the food bank will be open from 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Oct. 23.

The lawn of Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 E. 8th St., Clay City, will be converted into a pumpkin patch Saturday.

The funeral home's annual Pumpkin Giveaway for children will take place that day.

The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., and conclude at noon, or while pumpkins last.

Turkey Supper

The Bowling Green Order of the Eastern Star No. 304 Turkey Supper will take place Saturday.

Times are 4:30-7 p.m., and the event will take place at the Bowling Green Community Center.

Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children.

Drinks and desserts will be included in the meal price. Carry-out will be available.

The event has been scheduled as a fundraiser for the group.

Otter Creek Christian Church, 6299 N. Crow St., Brazil, is inviting all to a worship concert Saturday, at 6 p.m.

The church will host the vocal trio Beyond The Ashes, based out of Nashville, Tenn.

Under-21 Dance

An 21-under dance will take place at the Cunot Community Center, from 6:30-9:30 p.m., Saturday.

The center is located at 5530 State Road 42, Poland, Ind.


Grace Chapel Ministries, 2104 W. United States 40, Brazil, will welcome Wicket Gate for a performance at 8:30 p.m., Saturday.

The concert is free and open to the public. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Wicket Gate is based in Roanoke, Va.

Ham Radio program

The Brazil Public Library will host a program on Ham Radios at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 21.

Former Brazil resident John Van Sandt will present "Amateur Radio is Alive and Well (and Needs You)."

Amateur radios will be discussed including how to get a license. A special emphasis will be on the Amateur Radio Emergency Services and why the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has allocated so many frequencies to Ham radio.

Haunted Manor

Christmas In The Park will present "A Night at the Manor," Friday and Saturday, Oct. 22-23.

Times are 8-11 p.m.

Food pickup

Share Food pickup will take place from 9-10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, at First Christian Church, 1875 W. United States 40, Brazil.

Food Giveaway

The Church of Our Lord Jesus, 708 E. Hendrix St., Brazil, will conduct a food giveaway Saturday, Oct. 23, from 1-3 p.m.

CCHS Shot Clinic

The Clay County Humane Society will conduct a Pet Shot Clinic from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Forest Park Pavilion.

All shots are $10 each. The four shots available for dogs include the canine 5-in-1 vaccine, Lyme disease, Bortella and Rabies. The three shots for cats include the feline 3-in-1 vaccine, feline leukemia and Rabies vaccine.

Dr. Ken Cox will be the attending veterinarian during the clinic.

Pet owners are urged to ensure the safety of their pets by taking the precaution of restraining their animals during the clinic with a leash or in a carrier.

Ghost Hunting 101

The Brazil Public Library will host an upcoming program on Ghost Hunting.

The event -- Ghost Hunting 101 -- will take place at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 25.

The program will be hosted by the Illiana Paranormal Research Team (IPRT).

The group was created by a handful of people who came from similar organizations around the area.

CCRTA meeting

The regular fall meeting of the Clay Community Retired Teachers Association will take place at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 26, at the Bingo Building on North Kennedy's Crossing Road, across from Northview High School.

A buffet meal will be served to members and guests, followed by two award presentations, short business meetings and the introduction of Nancy Tolson, State President of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.

Entertainment will be provided by the Vigo County Extension Homemakers Chorus.

Van Buren Elementary School will conduct a Veteran's Day program Wednesday, Nov. 10, from 9-10:30 a.m., in the elementary gymnasium.

Tree Festival

The St. Vincent Clay Hospital Foundation will conduct the seventh "Festival of Trees," from 6:30-9:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 13.

The event will take place at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds.
