She was born July 14, 1934, in Avon, the daughter of John Long and Georgia Curtis Long. She was adopted at age 14 by Bill and Gladys Cooley, Indianapolis. She graduated from Lawrence Central High School and was enrolled at Butler University for two years. She then married John David Fountain on July 20, 1952.
Ruth-ann was very involved with the First Christian Church in Brazil for many years, she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was a part of Bible Study. She volunteered many hours at the Terre Haute Boys Club's Camp Gulick as a cook. Her family was very important to her, and she enjoyed being a Mom, Mommy and Grandma.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her loving husband, children Larry Fountain and wife Gayle, Carbon, Terry Fountain and wife Patty, Chatham, Ill., Brent Fountain and wife Tina, Brazil, Sarah Sullivan and husband Rex, Nashville, Ind., and Pamela Fountain, Carbon, grandchildren Aurelia Miller, Johnny Knauer, Jennifer Fountain, Anton Fountain, MacKenzie White, Elizabeth Keith, Nathan McCreery, Glen Fountain, Harrison Fountain, Austin Weaver and Ashley Deakins, great-grandchildren Kayli Autum Keith, Ashley Lynn Miller, Alexis Nicole Miller, Addelyn Summer Keith, Gabrielle Knauer and Kenda Knauer, three sisters and two brothers.
Services will be held Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Lawson-Miller Chapel, with Pastor Chris Gregg officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday, from 4-8 p.m., and again Friday prior to services. Burial will follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery.
