Carter hopes to bring fresh perspective to council

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

Toni Carter
My name is Toni Carter and I am running for Clay County Council, District 3, which covers Posey, Jackson and Sugar Ridge Townships.

My husband, Shawn, and I have been married for 20 years and we have three children. Taylor, 15, is a sophomore at Northview High School, Brett, 12, is a seventh-grade student at North Clay and Jack, 9, is a fourth-grader at Jackson Township Elementary.

I have been a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones for 20 years, and that is why I feel I would be a great addition to the county council. The council's main purpose is to handle the finances of the county. The council approves the budget, sets tax rates, sets the salaries/wages for the elected officials and county employees and approves the expenditures from the various county departments. I have the experience to help and can bring to the table a fresh perspective.

As an employee of the people in District 3, I will represent their vote.

If a controversial issue comes up and I do not receive feedback, I will seek out the District 3 residents for comments and guidance in my vote for them. I am not afraid to ask questions and make hard decisions if needed.

I have lived in Clay County all of my life and I want to see it grow and prosper. I look forward to helping the Clay County Commissioners in any way possible to help bring economic development and jobs to our community that we so badly need. Our county has a lot of opportunity that has not been realized.

I would like to thank everyone for your support these past months and I will sincerely appreciate your vote on Nov. 2.
