Heading into Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Semistate week, the Northview Marching Knights has reclaimed the top rating among Class B bands according to www.indianamarching.com.

The website's writer's poll from the seventh week of the season -- including the preseason poll -- placed Northview in the top spot with 115 votes, including five first-place nods.

Last week's No. 1, Greenwood, fell to third with one first place and 104 overall votes while Concord (108 votes, two first place) leapfrogged from fifth to second in the poll.

The Marching Knights were also ranked the top band in Class B through week five in the poll, which is released every Monday evening.

Goshen (97 votes) dropped to fourth in this week's poll, followed by Jasper (96 votes), North Side (73 votes), Plainfield (68 votes), Northridge (68 votes), DeKalb (61 votes) and New Castle Chrysler (55 votes).

North Side made the biggest leap after not being ranked last week, while Floyd Central, which was 10th last week, fell out of the top 10.

In the Class D poll, the Clay City Imperial Regiment failed to receive a vote following its silver-rated performance at Regionals. Clay City had received four votes last week.

After receiving votes the first few weeks of the season, reaching as high as 13th in the poll, the Imperial Regiment has been left off the voter cards three of the last four weeks.

The top four in the Class D poll remained the same this week with Lewis Cass still leading the pack with 115 votes (four firsts), followed by Springs Valley (114 votes, three firsts), Forest Park (107 votes, one first) and Paoli (96 votes), while there was a lot of shifting in spots five through 10.

Mater Dei placed fifth this week (76 votes), ahead of Bluffton (74 votes), Monrovia (73 votes), Woodlan (71 votes), Adams Central (49 votes) and Southridge (44 votes). Mater Dei and Monrovia were outside the top-10 last week.

Northview will compete against 20 other bands in the ISSMA Semistate contest Saturday at Pike High School, Indianapolis. The Marching Knights are slated to perform at 3:49 p.m.

Clay City will be at Franklin Community High School Saturday for the Class D Semistate competition. The Imperial Regiment will perform at 1:26 p.m.

Hopes will be high as the Imperial Regiment will be seeking its 17 State Finals appearance, while the Marching Knights are looking to go to state for the 24th consecutive time (26th overall).

The ISSMA State Finals are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 30, at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Band ranked #1 does'nt get a picture in their hometown paper, but we get a pic of Clay City. Thanks B R A Z I L Times.

Most of the time it is northview's band getting a picture in the paper. remember there are two bands in the county and I appreciate that the Clay City is being covered side by side with the Marching Knights. I hope they both advance to state and bring home titles to the county.
