I became Prosecutor on Jan. 18, 2005. I ran successfully for office in 2006, and continue to serve.
I believe this to be more than a full-time job. I am available 24/7 to assist law enforcement in their efforts. The law enforcement community and I have partnered in this fight and will continue to do so.
My years of service to this community affirm my commitment and dedication to continue the fight to make our community safer. I have worked diligently to help victims by demanding restitution and listening to their concerns. I have aggressively pursued substantial sentences for violent and drug offenders, securing significant jail time for those who needed to be removed from our streets.
I have made the child support division a priority during my administration and their positive numbers reflect this effort.
Collections of child support have increased annually bringing much-needed funds to the parents in our county. My support division was rated in the top-10 counties in the State for collections during the previous two years -- totaling almost $2 million last year.
I have tried to keep this campaign focused on the priorities of the office and the characteristics I bring to the office of Prosecutor. This has not been easy to do with the present attitude of campaigns and attitudes. I am aware that the voting public is weary of mudslinging campaigns. Throughout my campaign, I have continued to take a positive approach in sharing information with you and defending my positions when necessary. I have performed the functions of my office with integrity. I have maintained my campaign in the same fashion.
I remain committed to serving the people of Clay County. My family lives, works and attends school and church here. I am doing everything in my power to make it a better, safer place for my family and yours.
I wish to continue to serve as your Prosecutor, and I ask for your support and vote in the election on Nov. 2, 2010.
