Lois MacDonald, 92, Terre Haute, formerly of Rockville, died Oct. 23, 2010, at Springhill Village, Terre Haute.
She had resided at Cannon Inn for several years.
She was born Jan. 17, 1918, in Lewistown, Mont., the daughter of Charles and Eva McFarland McAllister.
The family came by train to the Reelsville area when Lois was a young girl. She graduated from Reelsville High School and later attended beauty school.
She married Robert M. MacDonald and they lived many years in Brazil. Lois had a beauty shop in their home so she could be at home with their sons.
In later years, Lois began working at Indiana State University in the housekeeping department and retired as housekeeping supervisor in 1974. At that time, she and Bob relocated to the Mt. Dora area in Florida.
In 1995, Bob passed away and in 1999, Lois moved back to Rockville to be closer to family here in the Midwest.
She attended the First United Methodist Church in Rockville. She enjoyed flower arranging, genealogy and the study of philosophy and religion. She found joy in her family, including grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her sister, Katherine.
Survivors include her sons Larry MacDonald and wife Charlotte, Roanoke, Va., and Leon MacDonald and wife Marcy, Montezuma, grandchildren Laura Futty (Randy), Mark MacDonald, Luke MacDonald (Benita) and Lanna MacDonald, great-grandchildren Emily, Megan, Logan, Nick, Kayla and Mark, brother Robert McAllister, Tavares, Fla., several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert MacDonald, brothers Jimmy McAllister and Charles McAllister, and sisters Marie Gardner and Katherine French.
Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will take place at a later date.
