Theatre featuring young actors in musical

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

The Clay County Community Theatre will present "The Princess and the Pizza," Nov. 11-13, at the Lark Theatre, 8 E. National Ave., Brazil.

Showtimes are 7 p.m., Nov. 11-12, and 2 p.m., Nov. 13.

The musical will feature children ages 6-15. In addition, it is also an original musical written by Elaine Clarke and Susan Sneddon.

Musical accompaniment was also written by Sneddon.

According to information provided by theatre representatives, the play is based on the story from the book of the same name, written by Mary Jane and Herm Auch.

It captures different story lines from various well-known fairy tales, fractures them a bit, and turns it into a funny story for everyone to enjoy.

The musical includes several characters from various fairy tales, including "Snow White," the seven little people, "Rapunzel," "Cinderella," a queen, king, prince, several villagers, ladies in waiting, pages and narrators.

The story is about a "king who decides he'd rather be a wood carver than rule a kingdom."

According to the information, the king moves his daughter to a small village where she is absolutely bored out of her mind and wants to go back to "princessing."

When she discovers a prince is looking for a bride, she jumps at the chance.

However, when arriving at the castle, she finds the queen is not very nice and makes the 12 princesses pass several tests looking for a "true princess."

As the story progresses, the would-be princess, Paulina, discovers she has more talents than just being a princess.

Tickets for the musical cost $5 for adults and $3 for children.

To purchase tickets, call 442-6909 and leave order and phone number in a message. A call back will take place for confirmation.

Umm... check the punctuation before commenting... 'The seven little people' is not connected to Cinderella and is a book all it's own.
