To participate in the 2010 Clay County Courthouse Military Christmas Tree, people may drop off a 3-by-5 photo of local veterans and/or enlisted service men and women on active duty at the Maintenance Department office in the courthouse basement no later than Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010.
The name of the person in the photo should be placed on back.
All photos will be available for pick up after the decorations are removed on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011.

Food Pantry Open
The Cunot Community Center Food Pantry is open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 9-11 a.m.
Those interested in utilizing the pantry must bring identification with current address.

The Diabetes Self Management Group classes will continue at Putnam County Hospital.
Classes are scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 4, Nov. 11, Dec. 2, and Dec. 9.
Morning classes meet 9 a.m.-noon, and afternoon classes meet 1-4 p.m.
The classes are open to anyone dealing with Diabetes. There are sessions, including "101: What is Diabetes," and "201: Nutrition Education."
Cost is $25 for both classes and if a patient pre-registers, they save $5.
A doctor's referral is not necessary to attend the classes.

The City of Brazil is conducting leaf pickup by section on the following days:
* Southwest section -- Today, 3-5 and 8,
* Northwest section -- Nov. 9-10, 12 and 15-16,
* Northeast section -- Nov. 17-19 and 22-23, and
* Southeast section -- Nov. 24, 29-30 and Dec. 1-2.
Residents are asked to rake all leaves into the street, along the curb, and remove all parked cars during these time periods to allow access for the leaf machine.

The Clay County Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m., today, in the lower level of the museum.
The guest speaker will be Steve Buchanan, from the Raccoon Lake area.

Mended Hearts of the Wabash Valley Chapter 236 will celebrate with thanks Tuesday, at 6 p.m., at Regional Hospital, Terre Haute, in the cafeteria.

The Brazil Public Library will have a painted light bulb Christmas ornament craft class at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 9.

School program scheduled
Van Buren Elementary School will conduct a Veteran's Day program Wednesday, Nov. 10, from 9-10:30 a.m., in the elementary gymnasium.

The Clay County 4-H Council meeting will take place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 10, at the 4-H Fairgrounds exhibit hall.
All are welcome to attend.
The Clay County Community Theatre will present "The Princess and the Pizza," Nov. 11-13, at the Lark Theatre, 8 E. National Ave., Brazil.
Showtimes are 7 p.m., Nov. 11-12, and 2 p.m., Nov. 13.
Tickets for the musical cost $5 for adults and $3 for children.

Tree Festival Slated
The St. Vincent Clay Hospital Foundation will conduct the seventh "Festival of Trees," from 6:30-9:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 13.
The event will take place at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Council Work Session Set
A work session for the Brazil Common Council will take place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 17, at the Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.
The animal ordinance will be discussed at the meeting and the public is welcome to attend.
Fall Arts Show
Celebration of the Arts and Soul will host its second Annual Fall Show Nov. 19-21, at the former Masonic Temple, 201 N. Walnut St., Brazil.
This year, the charity being showcased is the Clay County Emergency Food Pantry.
