The following is a list of upcoming events provided to The Brazil Times:

Shelter launches NOVEMPURRR

The Clay County Humane Shelter has launched NOVEMPURRR, for the remainder of this month.

More than 100 cats are currently housed at the shelter.

Shelter officials said for the rest of the month, residents may adopt any cats 6-months or older for $25.

Leaf pickup

The City of Brazil is conducting leaf pickup by section on the following days:

* Northwest section -- Monday and Tuesday,

* Northeast section -- Wednesday, Nov. 19, and 22-23, and

* Southeast section -- Nov. 24, 29-30 and Dec. 1-2.

Residents are asked to rake all leaves into the street, along the curb, and remove all parked cars during these time periods to allow access for the leaf machine.

The Clay County Community Theatre will present "The Princess and the Pizza," today and Saturday, at the Lark Theatre, 8 E. National Ave., Brazil.

Showtimes are 7 p.m., today, and 2 p.m., Saturday.

Tickets for the musical cost $5 for adults and $3 for children.

To purchase tickets, call 442-6909 and leave order and phone number in a message. A call back will take place for confirmation.


Support Habitat for Humanity of Clay County today, with a purchase from Brazil Pizza Hut.

The second Friday of each month, from 4-8 p.m., 20 percent of qualifying purchases will be donated to Habitat for Humanity by mentioning to a waitress when paying the bill.


The Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department will conduct its monthly breakfast Saturday, from 7-11 a.m.

The menu will consist of biscuits and gravy, pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage.


The Dick Johnson Volunteer Fire Department will have a breakfast Saturday, from 7 a.m.-noon, at the firehouse, located at County Road 1200 and 200 W.

All are invited to attend.

Ham and Beans

The Wesley Chapel Church will have a ham and bean dinner Saturday, from 4-7 p.m., at the church.

The meal will include corn bread, coleslaw, fried potatoes, dessert and drink.

Cost is $5 per person. Children 6-under will be admitted free.

Tree Festival

The St. Vincent Clay Hospital Foundation will conduct the seventh "Festival of Trees," from 6:30-9:30 p.m., Saturday.

The event will take place at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Meeting on TV

The Clay Community School Board of Trustees meeting from Thursday, Nov. 11, will be aired at the following times on local cable Channel 2:

* Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 9 a.m., and 7 p.m., and

* Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 9 a.m., and 7 p.m.

'Season Of Thanks'

The Christian Women's Club of Terre Haute invites all to a "Season Of Thanks" luncheon at the MCL Meeting Room at the Meadows Shopping Center in Terre Haute.

The event will take place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16. Tickets are $3.

A special feature of "Christmas Goodies," will be led by Carlene Dickison, Brazil.

Music will be performed by Cindy Thomas, Terre Haute.

The speaker will be Carole Ledbetter, Ottawa, Ill.

Reservations are required by Friday, Nov. 12. Cancellation is essential by 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 14.

Work Session

A work session for the Brazil Common Council will take place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 17, at the Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

The animal ordinance will be discussed at the meeting and the public is welcome to attend.

Fall Arts Show

Celebration of the Arts and Soul will host its second Annual Fall Show Nov. 19-21, at the former Masonic Temple, 201 N. Walnut St., Brazil.

This year, the charity being showcased is the Clay County Emergency Food Pantry.

Hours for the show are 6-9 p.m., Friday Nov. 19, 1-8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 20, and 1-6 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 21.

Passport Fair

The Brazil Post Office will conduct a Passport Fair from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 20.

Those interested in attending should bring their birth certificate and driver's license.

Bottle, Pottery Show

The Wabash Valley Antique Bottle and Pottery Club will present the 13th Illiana Antique Bottle and Pottery Show and Sale Saturday, Nov. 20.

The event will take place at the Shadow Auction Barn, 1517 Maple Ave., Terre Haute.

Show hours are 9 a.m.-2 p.m., and admission is free.

The organization will also conduct a Historical Bottle Auction at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 19.
