He was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Coles County, Ill., as the son of Thomas David and Zella Roberts Rothrock.
Upon graduating midterm from Gerstmeyer High School in December 1942, he was inducted into the U.S. Army Jan. 27, 1943.
He served in the 255th Field Artillery Headquarters Battery under the command of General Patton's 3rd Army in France and Germany.
On July 23, 1958, he was united in marriage to Rita Patrick.
Bob loved his family, his country and always had great respect for the American flag. He retired in 1988 from the Pillsbury Co., where he was a purchasing agent for the engineering department.
Also, he served as a member of the Clay County Democrat Election Board for 12 years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 2, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 1127, Breakfast Optimist Club, and an honorary member of Pocahontas Geronimo Council No. 51.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael A. Rothrock, and father and mother-in-law Michael and Gladys Patrick.
He is survived by his wife Rita Rothrock, sons Rob Rothrock (Sherry), Jeff Rothrock (Tammy), and Tom Rothrock (Cindy), daughter Linda Cesinger (Bill), sisters Joann Roberts and Dorothy Brading (Bob), sisters-in-law Patricia Janz (Bill), and Veronica Lawson (Bob), brother-in-law Barry Patrick, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and other extended family.
Visitation will take place from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, at Moore Funeral Home, and one hour before funeral services Friday.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, with Father Harold Rightor II officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
