Funeral Home participating in military initiatives

Thursday, November 18, 2010

French Funeral Home in Brazil recently announced it would participate in two Veterans and Family Memorial Care (VFMC) initiatives, "Christmas Stockings for Soldiers," and "Cell Phones for Soldiers."

From now through Dec. 1, residents may stop by the funeral home, located at 421 E. National Ave., Brazil, and pick up a free Christmas stocking to take home, decorate and stuff with Christmas cheer.

Residents will receive a list of recommended items along with the free stocking.

French Funeral Home will then ship the stockings at its expense to troops abroad in time for Christmas.

"This is a great way for us to show our support for the troops by giving them some holiday cheer," French Funeral Home owner Susie French said.

As part of the funeral home's membership in Veterans and Family Memorial Care, it is also an official drop-off center for "Cell Phones for Soldiers."

To join in the effort to help troops call home this holiday season, drop off old cell phones at the French location.

VFMC providers nationwide have collected enough old cell phones to provide the troops overseas with more than one million free calling minutes.
