Ruby was born Dec. 23, 1915, in Clay County, the daughter of Millard and Goldie (Furry) Martin.
Ruby graduated from Clay City High School with the class of 1934. She later graduated from Indiana State Teachers College in April 1934. Ruby also attended Indiana Central College from 1936-39.
Ms. Martin taught elementary education in Clay City, Richmond and Kokomo.
She was a member of the Friendly Open Bible Community Church.
In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening. Most recently, however, she enjoyed reading and crocheting.
Ms. Martin was preceded in death by her parents, sister Pauline Martin, brothers Earl "Bud" Martin and Donald Martin Sr., and nephew John Martin.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews Donnie Martin and wife Marlene, Clay City, Angela Denham and husband Richard, Vincennes, Sue Ann Rowland and husband Steve, Kansas City, Kan., Sally McAffrey, Neosho, Mo., Jill Blank and husband David, Joplin, Mo., Billy Martin, New York, Robert Martin and wife Gina, Kansas City, Kan., sister-in-law Lillian Martin, Clay City, as well as several great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Services for Ms. Martin will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, Tuesday, Nov. 23, at noon, with Pastor Brian West officiating. Burial will follow at Beech Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home, Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until time of services.
