GREENE COUNTY -- A Clay City woman was transported to the Greene County General Hospital Emergency Room, then transferred by air ambulance to Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, with severe injuries sustained during a Sunday morning accident.
Wanda Lee Dial, 55, was trapped inside her vehicle and reportedly received multiple fractures, internal injuries and a head injury.
Greene County Sheriff's Detective Chris McDonald responded to the scene along with other officers and rescue personnel from the Wright Township Volunteer Fire Department and Greene County Ambulance Service.
Dial was operating a 2007 Ford F-250 truck northbound on Lone Tree Road when the crash occurred at 10 a.m.
The Greene County Sheriff's Department issued a report Monday morning regarding the accident.
"For an unknown reason, the driver left the traveled portion of the roadway at County Road 700 North," McDonald said. "The vehicle then struck two utility poles, breaking them off. The truck then traveled several hundred feet before coming to a rest in a field."
McDonald said the truck sustained extensive damage.
Dial was trapped inside the truck and had to be extricated by rescue workers.
No further information regarding Dial's medical condition has been released.
