Toni Carter, Financial advisor from Edward Jones, educated Northview Business Foundations and I.C.E. students about the importance of saving and investing.
Students received information about mutual funds, interest rates, inflation, Roth IRA's, 401K's and the importance of retirement savings.
Carter also discussed the importance of saving for big ticket items such as a car, home and college education. Carter emphasized to students the importance of listening to the news and reading the newspaper so students can be knowledgeable of what is happening around the community, state, nation and global news/business activity.
Business Foundations student Shelby French said she learned that you need to start a savings plan early in life.
After Carter's informative discussion, Bo Stewart felt that mutual funds was a safe investment for retirement since it was made up of many diverse companies.
Business student Sati Jenkins believes she will try to save a portion of her paycheck each week for retirement. Sam Montague is eager to start saving early in life so her money will have time to grow. Business student Owen Geswein learned the difference between a certificate of deposit and a mutual fund. Carter brought a wealth of information into the business classroom for students to become more knowledgeable in saving and investing.
