Officials seek information on accident

Monday, November 29, 2010

The Clay Count Sheriff's Department is currently seeking information from the public regarding an accident on State Road 59 Saturday evening.

According to Sheriff Mike Heaton, a homeowner living in the area of 12276 North SR 59 who reported to E911 Dispatchers a vehicle drove through their yard, damaging the yard, flowerbeds and clipping the house before driving away sometime between 9-9:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported during the incident and no damage estimates were available as of press time.

Officials confirmed the homeowner reported seeing a vehicle that looked similar to an older model light brown/tan Jeep Cherokee leaving the scene after the accident. However, Heaton said, due to the darkness, deputies don't want to limit the scope of the ongoing investigation.

According to officials, the suspect could potentially face leaving the scene of an accident and other similar types of charges for their alleged involvement in the incident.

To report information about this incident, or any other, contact the Clay County Sheriff's Department at 446-2535.
