The Clay County Sheriff's Department is currently seeking information from the public regarding an accident on State Road 59 Saturday evening.
According to Sheriff Mike Heaton, a homeowner living in the area of 12276 North SR 59, reported to Clay County E911 Dispatchers a vehicle drove through their property, damaging the yard, yard furniture, flowerbeds and clipping the house before driving away sometime between 9-9:30 p.m.
No injuries were reported during the incident and damage estimates were not available at press time.
Officials confirmed the homeowner reported seeing a vehicle that looked similar to an older model 80s or 90s light brown/tan Jeep Cherokee leaving the scene after the accident.
However, Heaton said, due to the darkness, deputies don't want to limit the scope of the ongoing investigation to one single vehicle style, which is why they are requesting help from the public.
"If anyone saw anything that night or knows anything about the incident, we would like to speak with them," Heaton said of the difficult investigation.
According to officials, the suspect could potentially face leaving the scene of an accident and other similar types of charges for their alleged involvement in the incident.
