She was born May 28, 1909, in Prairie Creek, Ind., to Cassius and Lula (Turner) Piety.
Elvera worked as a teacher until marrying B. Earl Tipton Dec. 24, 1934.
He preceded her in death in 1995.
Elvera was a member of the First Christian Church and the Brazil Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband B. Earl Tipton, and son Gerald Lee Tipton, as well as siblings Obert Piety, Hila Reed, Lila Price, Floyd Piety and Lloyd Piety.
She is survived by daughter Wanda Peeples (Joseph), Hamlet, Ind., and son Max Tipton, Carmel, Ind., grandchildren Rebecca Bilsland (Kirby), Greenville, Ind., John Peeples (Leanne), Columbus, Ind., Michael Tipton (Vickie), Jeanne Slack, and Derik Tipton (Nicole), all of Brazil, great-grandchildren Avery Bilsland, Brady Bilsland, Jacob Peeples, Reece Peeples, Sophie Tipton, Chase Tipton, Samuel Miller, Matt Miller, Hunter Slack, Destiny Burns, and Curtis Tipton, great-great-grandson Caleb Miller, several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother Doyle Piety (Linda), and sister Doretta Brown, all of Terre Haute, daughter-in-law Sue Tipton, Brazil, as well as many extended family members.
Services will be at French Funeral Home Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Chris Gregg officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday, from 11 a.m., until time of service.
