The following is a list of upcoming events provided to The Brazil Times:

Interested?

The Brazil Times is looking for a person interested in providing volunteer commentating and videography for girls' and boys' basketball games this season.

Those interested should contact The Times at 446-2216, Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Postponed

Due to weather conditions and the holidays, the Posey Township Euchre Group has canceled the remainder of its meetings this year.

The group meets weekly on Tuesdays at the Staunton Community Center.

It plans to reconvene for games at 12:45 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011.

Holiday Closing

The Clay County Genealogical Society will be closed for the Christmas and New Year holidays, beginning at 4 p.m., Wednesday.

The organization will reopen at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011.

Wanted

The Clay County Humane Society is looking for "cat socializers" to play with cats.

Interested people may come to the Humane Society any day from noon-5 p.m.

The Shelter is located at 8280 N County Road 125 W, Brazil.

Toy Drive

In conjunction with Toys for Tots, Harmony United Methodist Church is conducting a fundraising meal Friday.

The event will take place at the church, located at 10195 N. Vine St., Harmony, and is scheduled for 5-7 p.m.

Those interested in attending are asked to bring a freewill donation or a toy for the meal, which will be spaghetti and a salad.

Karaoke

The Clay County Senior Center, 120 S. Franklin St., Brazil, will host Mel's Karaoke Friday, from 6-9 p.m.

Anyone interested in singing is welcome to attend.

Food and drinks will be served as a fundraiser for the senior center.

Laser Show

The Allen Memorial Planetarium will conduct a Holiday Laser Light Show today, at 6:30 p.m., and Saturday, at 2 p.m., 4 and 6 p.m.

Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for children 12-under.

Tickets will be sold at the door.

The planetarium is located on the property of Terre Haute South High School.

Performance

Legendary country rocker David Allen Coe will perform at the Terre Haute Indiana Theatre today.

Doors are set to open at 7 p.m., with the performance starting at 8 p.m. All seats are reserved.

Cost for tickets are $35, $25, $20, and $15.

Youth Dance

The YMCA of Clay County will conduct a Youth Dance today.

The dance is open to sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders. Children should bring their school ID or other document showing their grade.

The dance begins at 8 p.m., and ends at 10:30.

Cost is $5.

There are concessions available to purchase in the YMCA Community Room.

YMCA staff and volunteers will serve as chaperones and parents are welcome to stay as well.

Christmas Auction

Christmas In The Park will host a Christmas Auction Saturday.

The event will take place at the V.F.W., located on South Depot Street.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and the auction will begin at 7 p.m.

Food will be available, including chili with peanut butter sandwiches, hot dogs, coney dogs and desserts.

Hot Dog Day

The IBM Retirees' Organization annual hot dog day -- a day of reunion and remembrances -- will take place Sunday, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1550, Greencastle.

Hot dogs and all the trimmings will be served from 12:30-2:30 p.m.

IRO members may attend free of charge. Non-members and guests may attend, but will be charged $6 at the door.

Club Meeting

The Christmas meeting for the Clay County Republican Club will be at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 13, at the Clay County Senior Center on South Franklin Street in Brazil.

The event will be a "cookie extravaganza" with beverages and entertainment provided.

The public is welcome to attend the meeting.
