The IU National Center of Excellence in Women's Health needs women 18-older for a series of focus groups to explore the topic of preventive care. All information will be kept private and no names will be collected.
The Center's ultimate goal is to improve women's health in Indiana. Researchers are focusing initial efforts on Clay County because fewer women here get health screenings -- particularly cervical cancer screens -- compared with women in the rest of the state.
"If we can be successful by learning from women in Clay County and discovering what the barriers are to health screenings, we can address those barriers. If we see improvement in Clay County, it becomes a model for all of Indiana," Executive Director of the IU National Center of Excellence in Women's Health Deborah Stiffler, PhD, RN, CNM, said. "Clay County will be on the cutting edge of efforts to improve the health care picture for women all across the state."
The deadline to sign up for a focus group is Wednesday, Dec. 15. Meeting days and times will be announced at a later date.
