William E. Kumpf, 86, Brazil, passed away at home Dec. 10, 2010, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Posey Township, Clay County, the son of Leslie and Irene (O'Hair) Kumpf. Bill attended Staunton High School. He married Rosemary (Latham) Sanders Nov. 27, 1968. Along with his brother Max, Bill owned and operated Kumpf Brothers Incorporated, a grain and dairy farm in Posey Township, until retiring in 2001.

Bill was a member of the East Side Christian Church and more recently attended the Brazil First Church of the Nazarene.

Bill enjoyed bowling and throwing horseshoes, spending time with his grandchildren and riding bikes with Rosemary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Terri Sanders Proffitt, as well as four brothers Earl Kumpf, Glenn Kumpf, Max Kumpf and John Kumpf.

Bill is survived by his wife Rosemary Kumpf, children Gini Boyce and husband Kenneth, William Kumpf Jr. and wife Mary, Peggy Hines and husband David, and Janet Davenport and husband Owen, he also raised Onya Sanders Wetnight and husband David, Doug Sanders and wife Tina, and Brad Sanders, 26 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, sister Mary Lou Riddell as well as many extended family members.

Private services will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Summit Lawn Cemetery. French Funeral Home has been entrusted with his care.
