'Come To The Manger' to hear traditional Christmas music

Friday, December 10, 2010

Traditional Christmas songs and more will be heard in the halls of the Brazil Nazarene Church soon.

The Community Theatre of Clay County Singers will present "Come To The Manger," Sunday, Dec. 19, at the church, located at 1002 E. National Ave.

The event is set to begin at 6 p.m. Choir member Sharon Wilkison said the event will last approximately 45 minutes.

Wilkison added the choir has never conducted a performance like this before.

"This is the first one," Wilkison said. "We just thought we'd return a little bit to the community. The community supports the choir so we thought we'd give back."

"Come To The Manger," will offer traditional Christmas carols and more, Wilkison said.

The song, "Away In A Manger," will begin the presentation.

Wilkison said some solos, two specifically provided by Sam Glover and Michelle McCrea, will be performed as well. Wilkison said the choir has approximately 20-25 members.

Wilkison said the event is a benefit for the Clay County Emergency Food Pantry. The choir is asking all in attendance to bring a non-perishable food item. In addition, freewill offerings and the collection of food items, will be donated to the food pantry.

"We thought it'd be a good idea," Wilkison said.
