Winter Weather Advisory for area

Sunday, December 12, 2010

The National Weather Service (NWS) based in Indianapolis has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Clay County through 7 a.m., Monday.

According to the organization, roads could become snow covered, slick and hazardous from snow and blowing snow.

NWS estimated a total snow accumulation of 1-2 inches for the area.

Worse traveling conditions, according to the service, would occur later today and into the evening due to a combination of snow, blowing snow and strong winds, as much as 40 mph through the evening.

Wind chills, according to NWS, would drop below zero Sunday evening and could be as low as -10 degrees below zero Monday morning.

A "wintry mix" of precipitation is possible through Thursday evening, according to the service.

HA HA! This is Clay County. We won't even think about delaying school until tomorrow morning. We like to make it as painful as possible on parents. Why do they need to plan ahead?
