Knights fall short at Evansville Central

Sunday, December 12, 2010

Times Staff Report

EVANSVILLE -- The Northview Knights can't seem to quite get over the hump in gathering an early season win.

For the second consecutive season, Northview has begun the year 0-5 after falling to an Evansville Central squad that was coming off a victory against Class 3A No. 1 ranked Washington just a week ago. The Knights lost 74-61 on Saturday night.

Caleb Mershon drilled a season-high six 3-pointers on the way to a team-high 21 points for the Knights and Trent Lancaster added 20. Both Dillon Reynolds and Damon Hyatt each had seven points, but the Knights' post game was nearly non-existent as Chance Talbot, Jacob Ninesling and Jacob Musgrave combined for just four points.

Northview (0-5 overall, 0-2 WIC) returns home for a boy/girl doubleheader against Edgewood on Friday night at 6 p.m.
