Letter to the Editor

Contact office for more information

Sunday, December 12, 2010

To the Editor:

This letter is in response to Marion "Sarge" Eveland's letter Monday, Dec. 6, 2010.

Yes, there is a loaner vehicle coming to Clay County from the DAV. There is not a confirmed date, but I have been in contact with the head of the DAV, Mike Wright and Mike Whelihan.

Hopefully, it will be before Jan. 1, 2011. In the meantime, we are still using the county van for transport.

I have confirmed from the DAV Mr. Wright and Mr. Whelihan that I will be in charge of the vehicle and its drivers. If you want to be a volunteer driver, you must interview with me at my office, pass a physical, pass a written test, pass a driving test, have a background check and have a clean driving record (no felonies of any kind).

The only point of contact for information on getting a ride or being a driver for my office to take veterans to their appointments is me, Mike Holland, Veteran Service Officer of Clay County, 609 E. National Ave., Rm. 104, 812-448-9015. Hours: Monday and Tuesday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Wednesday, 8-11:30 a.m.

I need seven days notice to schedule a driver, so call way in advance so I can get you on my calendar.

Michael R. Holland,

Brazil
