TERRE HAUTE -- The local Essence of Red is partnering with the American Red Cross of the Wabash Valley Chapter to sponsor free adult CPR training, Tuesday, from 5:30-9:30 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public, but there is a maximum of 10 participants for the class.

The training will be conducted at the American Red Cross Wabash Valley Chapter, 700 S. 3rd St., Terre Haute. To enroll or for more information, call 812-232-3393.

"The Essence of Red is excited to join forces with the American Red Cross in increasing the number of people in our community prepared to respond to a cardiac emergency," Essence of Red representative Lisa Pepperworth said. "We plan to sponsor additional Red Cross CPR training in the near future."

"By-stander CPR is a public health issue," American Red Cross of the Wabash Valley Chapter Health and Safety Director Sue Seyfert said. "The more people who are prepared to respond to cardiac emergencies, the more lives that can potentially be saved and our community will be a safer place. We too are excited about our new partnership with The Essence of Red and the potential for training more people."

The American Red Cross Wabash Valley Chapter serves Clay, Greene, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo counties in Indiana and Edgar County in Illinois.
