TransCare continues to offer Secure Care memberships, reducing the cost and stress related to emergency ambulance runs.

New applications, as well as renewal forms, are currently being accepted for 2011.

Secure Care memberships are yearly and cover the costs of medically necessary emergency transports.

A medical emergency constitutes being unable to be transported by any means other than an ambulance and the need to be taken to a hospital within TransCare's service area.

If a person is unable to stand without assistance or is unable to sit up in a wheelchair, then ambulance transportation may be deemed necessary.

The membership does not include transportation to or from doctor offices and/or serial medical treatments, such as dialysis or therapies of any kind.

Individual membership is $56. An immediately family member (spouse or dependent child) may be included for a total fee of $64.

An additional adult living in the same household is $28 per adult. The coverage is good for any medical emergency ambulance trip.

To become a Secure Care member with TransCare, applicants must fill out a brief information sheet and submit the appropriate payment. Transactions may take place Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., at the TransCare corporate office, 1299 Voorhees St., Terre Haute.

For more information or to request a brochure, contact Faril Ward, Operations Manager, at 812-462-2843.

TransCare, Inc., was founded in 1992 to provide a broad range of transportation and medical services.

The organization employs more than 150 individuals and currently maintains stations in Clay, Marion and Vigo counties, while providing pre-hospital care services to more than 15 Indiana counties.
