Sisters of Providence honors two with local ties

Twenty Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods recently celebrated anniversaries.

Thirteen sisters were honored for 60 years while seven were honored for 70 years.

Sister Richard Bussing, a native of Brazil, was one of the seven honored for 70 years.

Bussing currently ministers on the Residential Services Staff at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.

She entered the congregation Jan. 6, 1940, from Annunciation Parish in Brazil. She professed perpetual vows Aug. 15, 1948.

She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor's degree in education.

She has ministered at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods as well as in North Carolina, Illinois, Texas and Montana.

Other sisters celebrating 70 years included Lourdes Kline, Bernice Kuper, Mary Roger Madden, Cecilia Ann Miller, Annette Schipp and Marie Agatha Vonderheide.

Dorothy Ellen Wolsiffer, who formerly ministered in Brazil, was included among the 13 honored for 60 years.

Wolsiffer is a native of Indianapolis. She currently ministers as a parish volunteer for Assumption Parish in Coal City, Ill.

She entered the congregation Feb. 2, 1950. She professed perpetual vows Aug. 15, 1957.

She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor's degree in education and received her master's degree in elementary education from Indiana University and a master's degree in theology from Mundelein College.

Wolsiffer served as a teacher at Annunciation in Brazil from 1956-59.

In addition, she has taught in Indianapolis, Whiting and Terre Haute.

She has also minister in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Ohio.

Others celebrating 60 years included Eileen Rose Bonner, Rosemary Borntrager, Theresa Clare Carr, Amata Dugan, Norene Golly, Mary Cecile Grojean, Jacquelyn Hoffman, Ruth Johnson, Elizabeth Meyer, Christine Patrick, Edna Scheller and Joan Zlogar.
