Alpha Omega Chapter of Tri Kappa
The Alpha Omega Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa met Nov. 29, 2010, at 6 p.m., at First United Methodist Church.
Hostesses for this month were Michelle Oehler, Kristen Beasley, and Carissa Clark.
Tri Kappa members enjoyed a delicious meal of pork loin, garlic mashed potatoes, vegetables, vegetable lasagna, salad, and cheesecake catered by Tawyna Whittington from Simply Decadent.
President, Larissa Goshen called the meeting to order, followed by the opening song and verse. Christy Casassa took roll call and read the minutes of the November meeting. The minutes were accepted as read.
Sara Schultz submitted a bill for $57.22 to get new lights for the Tri Kappa Christmas Angel. Mary Yelton made a motion to pay the bill and Mandy Slater seconded it. Members discussed what to do with the Christmas Angel in the future. Several ideas were discussed and members will have more discussion at future meetings. There was no correspondence to read at this time.
Standing committee reports were given. Jamie Bell expressed that there were no anniversaries or birthdays this month. A Tri Kappa member suggested giving the Maurizio's gift certificate to Sherri Stevenson who was undergoing treatments at this time.
Money was also collected from members to purchase a gift card for her and a sign up was passed around to bring her meals once a week. $50 will be taken from the philanthropy fund to go towards the gas card. Christy Casassa made a motion and Sarah Schultz seconded it.
Project committee reports were given next. Money was collected at the previous meeting and at tonight's meeting for college members. Michelle Oehler was able to collect money to get gift certificates for college members.
Pecan/Nut orders were passed out to members. Money must be turned in to Mandy Slater in the form of one check by Dec. 15.
The home tour was also discussed. A reminder was given to members that they will need to be at their house 15 minutes prior to working their shift so they can get acquainted with the house, etc. A few more shifts need to be covered on the tour as well.
Cookies and cider will be served at the cabin. Members on the cookie committee need to have cookies to Kristen Beasley's house by Saturday so she can bag them.
Old business was discussed. The literacy project was discussed. There are 355 second-graders in the corporation that books will be purchased for.
Mary Yelton thanked members who brought gifts for the children at the LEEAP center. She also passed around a sign up sheet if anyone wanted to donate money instead. She also reminded members that if they wanted to purchase an SOS shirt it would be $15.
The dance committee decided that the dance will be held the following fall.
New business: Bingo was discussed and it was decided that a good date tot have the Tri Kappa basket bingo for this year was April 7. MaryAnn Froderman was going to check with the bingo hall to see if that day was available.
New member forms were passed out to those who wanted them.
Kristen Beasley placed a sticker underneath a chair and the winner won a massage from Jennifer Cook. Meganne Holley was the winner.
The closing verse was recited and the meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting will be held on Jan. 3, 2011, with location to be announced.
