The National Weather Service (NWS) based in Indianapolis issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Clay County early Friday morning.
The advisory is in effect until 7 a.m., Christmas Day.
According to NWS, snow was likely early Friday, with an accumulation of 1-inch. Snow was expected to continue Friday evening and there was a possibility of an addition 3-5 inches.
NWS stated roads could become "sloppy and slippery due to snow. Travel may become difficult."
The organization said the heaviest of the snowfall could occur between 10 p.m., Friday and 4 a.m., Christmas Day.

Other counties under the advisory included Carroll, Warren, Tippecanoe, Clinton, Howard, Fountain, Montgomery, Boone, Tipton, Hamilton, Vermillion, Parke, Putnam, Hendricks, Marion, Hancock, Vigo, Owen, Morgan, Johnson, Shelby, Rush, Sullivan, Greene, Monroe, Brown, Bartholomew, Decatur, Knox, Daviess, Martin, Lawrence, Jackson and Jennings.
