During the week of New Year's, The Brazil Times will change its weekly paper schedule.
There will be no newspaper published Tuesday, and New Year's Day (Saturday, Jan. 1).
In addition, The Brazil Times' office will be closed this Friday.

Chapter Not Meeting
The Wabash Valley Mended Hearts Chapter 236 will not meet in January.
The group has plans to reconvene meetings in February.
Meetings take place at Regional Hospital, Terre Haute, in the cafeteria. Reservations are required.

Closed For The Holidays
The Crisis Pregnancy Center of Brazil will be closed from Christmas Eve until Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, but will reopen Monday, Jan. 3.
The option line (1-800-395-4357) will take all calls during the break.

The Brazil Post Office will be closing at 3 p.m., New Year's Eve, Friday, Dec. 31.
The Brazil Times is looking for a person interested in providing volunteer commentating and videography for girls' and boys' basketball games this season.

The Church of Our Lord Jesus, 708 E. Hendrix St., Brazil, will not conduct its monthly food giveaway this month.
However, the event has been scheduled for Saturday, January 22, from 1-3 p.m.

The Clay County Historical Society has closed the doors of the museum for the winter months.
The museum will re-open March 14.
There will be no membership meeting until March 7, 2011.

Due to weather conditions and the holidays, the Posey Township Euchre Group has canceled the remainder of its meetings this year.
The group meets weekly on Tuesdays at the Staunton Community Center.
It plans to reconvene for games at 12:45 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011.
The Clay County Genealogical Society will be closed for New Year holiday.
The organization will reopen at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011.

The Clay County Humane Society is looking for "cat socializers" to play with cats.
Interested people may come to the Humane Society any day from noon-5 p.m.
The Shelter is located at 8280 N County Road 125 W, Brazil.
Until further notice, the Brazil Golf Board will meet in Council Chambers at Brazil City Hall at 7 p.m., on the third Monday of each month.
The meetings are open to the public.
The Harmony Town Council will conduct its final meeting of the year at 6 p.m., Wednesday, at the Harmony Community Center.
The meeting will take place for final claims and also in conjunction with the annual dinner for the council and boards.
The Clay County Health Department is inviting everyone to its office Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, to celebrate the retirement of Dr. S. Rahim Farid.
Farid has provided 37 years to Clay County residents as the Clay County Public Health Officer.
The open house is scheduled to take place from 4-6 p.m. A small ceremony will be conducted at 4:30 p.m., in the community room of the medical office building, 1214 E. National Ave., Brazil.

The Allen Memorial Planetarium will present a seasonal star program Jan. 7, at 6:30 p.m., and Jan. 8, at 2 and 4 -p.m.
The 30-minute educational program will introduce the constellations and other astronomical wonders of the for the winter season.
There is no charge for the program. However, donations will be accepted.
The planetarium is located on the property of Terre Haute South High School and provides educational programs for students in the surrounding counties.
In addition, it provides programs for a variety of other community groups.

The annual Clay County Day Luncheon will take place in Bradenton, Fla., Jan. 20, 2011, at the Mattison's Riverside Ballroom at Twin Dolphin Marina.
Reservation letters have been mailed to past attendees. If there are any Clay Countians who wish to attend who did not receive a letter, call B.J. Hofmann, Chairman, at 812-239-9600.
The deadline for reservations is Dec. 30, 2010.
The Wabash Valley will be treated to the experience of the national touring Pink Floyd Tribute band, Echoes of Pompeii, at the Scottish Rite Lodge, located at 8th and Ohio streets, Saturday, Jan. 22.

Bald Eagle Day
Duke Energy will conduct its 16th Bald Eagle Viewing Day Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at its Cayuga electric power plant along the Wabash River just north of Terre Haute.
The event is free and open to the public and will take place from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Reservations are not necessary.
