Quilting program coming to library

Thursday, December 30, 2010

An interesting class is coming to the Brazil Public Library.

"Yo-Yo Quilting -- Make and Take Mug Coaster," will be presented at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 20, 2010.

Those attending will learn how to make a whimsical, vintage-style fabric yo-yo mug coaster craft.

Yo-Yo patchwork quilting, popular during the early 20th century, is easy, economical and fun.

Yo-yos, are made by hand sewing and gathering a circle of fabric. They may also be called Suffolk puffs or rosettes.

The yo-yo is a thrifty, functional and creative way to use scraps of fabric and recycled clothing.

No sewing experience is required to attend the class.

Cost to attend the program is $5 and those interested in taking part must pre-register and pre-pay for the program.
