Robert Eugene VanArsdall, 82, Center Point, passed away at his home with his family members at his side Dec. 30, 2010.
He was born July 22, 1928, in Indianapolis, the son of Kermit and Nora (Smith) VanArsdall.
Following high school, he served his country in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge after three years of service.
Bob retired from Chrysler Motors Electric Division, where he worked as an electrician, after 22 years of service.
Bob married Rebecca L. Duncan Dec. 24, 1986.
He enjoyed working on his home, which he built, picking mushrooms, gardening, hunting, fishing and was a survivalist at heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenny VanArsdall and sister Clara Hengy.
He is survived by his wife Becky VanArsdall, Center Point, sons Robert VanArsdall Jr. (Rose), Fort Wayne, Steve VanArsdall (Carolyn), Monrovia, and Kevin VanArsdall, Florida, daughter Tracey Phillips, Staunton, 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
A gathering of friends and family will take place at French Funeral Home, Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, from 5-7 p.m.
