Junior Achievement of the Wabash Valley is preparing to honor individuals that make significant, lasting contributions to children's education, the community and economic vitality.
Each year, the Hall of Fame banquet recognizes leaders in business, education and volunteerism -- the three focus areas of Junior Achievement's mission.
The following is the nomination criteria for laureate induction into the JA Hall of Fame:
* Candidate must be a part of for-profit or not-for-profit organization/institution located within the Junior Achievement of the Wabash Valley, Inc., service area. JAWV service area includes the counties of Vigo, Vermillion, Clay, Parke and Sullivan in Indiana and Clark, Edgar and Crawford counties in Illinois,
* Candidate must have made a lasting contribution within the JAWV service area throughout a commitment to the betterment of their community, and
* Candidate's professional career must be a true example of Junior Achievement's purpose, "To educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, business and economics to improve the quality of their lives."
The Junior Achievement Hall of Fame 2011 Laureate Categories are as follows: Businessman of the Year, Businesswoman of the Year, Educator of the Year (Female), Educator of the Year (Male), Volunteer of the Year (Female), Volunteer of the Year (Male), Rising Star Businesswoman Entrepreneur of the Year (individual must be under 40), Rising Star Businessman Entrepreneur of the Year (individual must be under 40), Community Champion of the Year (Male or Female -- an individual whose personal efforts for their community made a lasting contribution to the betterment of the community as a whole).
The banquet will take place at the Ohio Building Banquet Center, Terre Haute, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., March 24.
