Area hospital's women center receives $56,000 in grants

Thursday, January 13, 2011

DANVILLE, Ind. -- The Women's Center at Hendricks Regional health was recently granted more than $56,000 for support of breast health services for low-income, uninsured or under-insured women.

The grants came from two sources, including:

* $53,096 was granted from the Central Indiana Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The funds will help low-income women in Hendricks County and counties to the west of Hendricks, get mammograms and other screenings, diagnostic procedures and consultations as needed, and

* $3,550 was granted from Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust. The gift also helps women in need receive necessary breast health services, including a screening mammogram.

Both grants also allow the Hendricks Regional Health Women's Center to expand outreach and education efforts about breast health.

Funds from the grants are currently available to qualifying patients.

For more information, contact Hendricks Regional Health Women's Center nurse and Cancer Navigator Janet Keene, at 1-317-718-6752.
