Accident forces traffic to be rerouted

Friday, January 14, 2011

A two-vehicle accident sent one Clay County resident to a Terre Haute hospital and caused a small traffic jam Friday morning.

Around 10 a.m., members of the Brazil City Police Department, with assistance from Brazil City Fire Department and TransCare Ambulance, were dispatched to an accident at the intersection of United States 40 and State Road 340.

According to officials investigating the accident, the unidentified driver of a van was attempting to turn south onto McGuire Street when the driver of an eastbound pick-up truck struck it.

The driver of the van, who was complaining of pain at the accident scene, was taken to a Terre Haute hospital to be medically checked out. Officials reported no other injuries involved in the accident.

Traffic was rerouted around the area while both vehicles were towed from the scene.

No further information was available due to the pending investigation.

Was this a city worker that pulled out in front of the red truck? Hope everyone involved was O.K.
