The event has been rescheduled for 6 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday, Jan. 28.
"We cannot risk the safety of the volunteers, community members and staff who will be out in the elements all day on Friday," United Way Executive Director Troy Fears said. "It only made sense to reschedule."
The goal for United Day for United Way is to raise $20,000 in 12 hours in a last effort to reach the annual campaign goal of $1.8 million.
Multiple events will take place on United Day in support of United Way of the Wabash Valley. More than 70 donation locations will be positioned throughout Park, Sullivan, Vermillion, Vigo and Clay counties in Indiana and Clark County in Illinois.
The donation locations include both Riddell National Bank locations, eight Old National Bank locations, eight Fifth Third Bank locations, 28 First Financial Bank locations, five Terre Haute Savings Bank locations, the Brazil Walmart and the Brazil Walgreens.
Another component of United Day is Dine United with 21 restaurants donating a portion of their sales on United Day, food and drinks for volunteers or gift cards.
Gift cards and/or refreshments will be donated by Subway, Jimmy John's, Sonic, T.G.I. Fridays and Starbucks as well as the Brazil Pizza Hut.
Festivities taking place at Baesler's Market will include 2010 United Way Campaign Chair Tim Sturgess and Fears standing on the roof of the store as well as numerous local celebrities pumping gas and washing car windows at Baesler's for tips.
Baesler's owner Bob Baesler agreed to discount gas on the day of the event for all patrons who help support United Way.
The community can also text a donation if they are unable to get out on United Day. Text giving is currently available by texting UWWV to 20222. Each text message donates $5 to the United Way of the Wabash Valley.
