On Thursday, Clay County Purdue Extension Coordinator Melanie Brown informed The Brazil Times a Share Food Program she had attempted to set up for county residents will not come to fruition.
Brown had planned on setting up the program and have a cooking class to provide tips to those receiving food.
Brown told The Times she had been in contact with a program based in Peoria, Ill., that was going to send food to the Purdue Extension Office in Clay County, located at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds.
However, the Illinois facility closed in December due to budget cuts.
Brown said she also contacted programs based in Iowa and Wisconsin. However, neither program would travel the distance.
