Alpha Omega Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa
The Alpha Omega Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa met on Jan. 3, 2011, at 6:30 p.m., at Roberta Weliever's house. Hostesses for this month were Cindy Watts and Marsha Hale. President, Larissa Goshen called the meeting to order, followed by the opening song and verse. Christy Casassa took roll call and read the minutes of the December meeting. The minutes were accepted as read. Mandy Slater gave the treasurer's report:
The treasurer's report was accepted as read. Larissa Goshen submitted a bill for $28.87 for Willow Tree Angels she purchased for Mary Yelton and Sherri Stevenson. Sarah Shultz made a motion to pay the bill and Vanessa Paullus seconded it. Jamie Bell read correspondence. A letter was read from Rex and Carla Henry thanking Tri Kappa members for the Red Lobster gift certificate. They also sent Tri Kappa a donation. A letter was read from Pam Fischer asking for inactive status at this time. Cindy Watts regretfully made a motion to grant inactive status and Sarah Schultz seconded it. A letter was read from Rogene Morge asking for money for Habitat for Humanity. Money was budgeted for Habitat for Humanity and will be sent to Rogene. A note was read from Bethany Pine, a friend of Larissa Goshen's donating money to Tri Kappa. Jamie also read a letter from Marsha Hale with a check for her fines, nuts, home tour, and adopt a family.
Standing committee reports were given. Jamie Bell handed out little perks. Michelle Oehler, Martha Maurer, Charlotte Pickett, and Michelle Estep celebrated January Birthdays and Martha Maurer celebrated a January Anniversary. Since no members were present to receive the Maurizio's gift certificate it will be given to Mary Yelton who is currently recovering from surgery. Mary is currently at Clay County Hospital for rehabilitation and doing great. Roberta Weliever sent around a calendar to sign up to bring Mary meals when needed.
Project committee reports were given next. All money has been collected for the pecan/nut orders. The home tour was discussed and reviewed. The turn out for Home Tour was down this year possibly due to the weather.
Several other options were discussed to improve the Home Tour and also for other money making ideas. Members were interested in possibly selling Beef House rolls as a fundraiser as well as making home made noodles to sell during the year. A reminder was mentioned that members still owe their $15 for either the Home Tour or Dance. This needs to be submitted to Mandy Slater ASAP.
Old business was discussed. The literacy project was again discussed. Larissa was still looking for books that would be fitting for 2nd graders. Meganne Holley is going to look into getting $2 books and using bonus points from Scholastic to receive free books as well. More information will given regarding this at a future meeting.
New business: Bingo was again discussed Roberta checked with Mary Ann Froderman and April 7 will be the Bingo date. Christy Casassa will check with Beth Moody and Amy Jones to see if they want to help out with baskets again this year. New member forms need to be submitted by the next meeting so members need to suggest members who could join. A basket was passed around to collect money from the members for the general fund. Larissa Goshen's name was drawn. She won a cookbook, Santa plate, and mini Pampered Chef spatula.
The closing verse was recited and the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be held on Feb. 7, 2011 at Meganne Holley's house.
