Mildred Evelyn Biggins, 93, Rosedale, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital, Brazil.
She was born Oct. 20, 1917, in Diamond, Ind., as the daughter of William C. and Cora Payne Biggins. She graduated from Raccoon Twp. High School/Bridgeton with the class of 1936 and continued her education at Indiana State University, where she received her B.S. degree in 1950, her M.S. degree in 1955 and her Advanced Degree in Education in 1961. She taught school for 43 years before her retirement.
She was a member of Bridgeton Methodist Church, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, Vigo County Retired Teachers Association, Clay County Humane Society, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Indiana Farm Bureau, Indiana State University Alumni Association, and Easter Star for more than 50 years. She had attended the McKinley Hill Church of Christ in recent years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Mary Elizabeth Biggins and one brother.
She is survived by several cousins and many close friends and former students.
Visitation will be 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Jan. 29, at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, in the Chapel at Roselawn Cemetery, Terre Haute, with burial to follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
