With Indiana facing a severe weather front Monday night into Tuesday morning, and more predicted for Wednesday, many government departments were called into action.
At 3 p.m., Monday, Governor Mitch Daniels and Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman conducted a press conference to alert the public as to the early preparations.
The governor directed the Indiana Department of Homeland Security to conduct meetings and gather information from utility companies, emergency responders and other state agencies about various contingency plans for the expected storm.
As for state agencies, Daniels said, "We will be open for business."
