She was born Aug. 6, 1918, in Poland, to Paul and Emma (Schroer) Ahlemeyer.
On Aug. 6, 1939, in Poland, she married Gailard Cleon Nees.
He died June 22, 2010, in Elkhart.
Surviving is daughter Donna (Rev. William) Hemmig, Elkhart, grandchildren Christopher Hemmig, Columbus, Ohio, Erin (Michael) Paul, Muncie, Ind., and Anna Hemmig, Elkhart. Also surviving is grandson Elijah Paul, sister Virginia Luther, Indianapolis, and nephews Ron Luther, Columbus, Ind., and Paul Luther, St. Louis, Mo.
Florence graduated in 1936 from Washington Township High School in Bowling Green.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Elkhart and when she resided in Poland, she was a member of the Tri-County Community Club, and the Women's Guild at the Zion United Church of Christ.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday (Feb. 3, 2011), at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m., Friday (Feb. 4, 2011), at the Zion United Church of Christ, Poland. Rev. Dr. William Hemmig (her son-in-law) from St. Paul's United Methodist Church, and Rev. Tom Blossom from Zion United Church of Christ will preside.
Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery in Poland.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
