The Area 7 Agency on Aging and Disabled will offer, "Living a Healthy Life With Chronic Conditions," a workshop for adults with chronic health conditions or those living with or caring for people with chronic conditions.
The workshop if for people living with arthritis, diabetes, asthma, COPD, emphysema, heart disease, high blood pressure, depression, pain, fatigue or other ongoing health conditions that impact daily life.
Workshop sessions will include appropriate medication use; fitness and exercise; relaxation techniques; dealing with negative emotions; managing symptoms; eating well; setting weekly goals; and effective problem solving.
"Living a Healthy Life With Chronic Conditions" will give those interested in attending confidence and skills to deal with symptoms and emotions while providing greater sense of control and independence.
Area 7 Agency on Aging and Disabled representatives Patty Cannoy and Gloria Wetnight have been trained and licensed by Stanford University to teach the workshop.
The workshops will take place at the YMCA of Clay County, 225 E. Kruzan St., Brazil, on Thursdays, from 1:3:30 p.m.
Sessions will take place Feb. 10, 17, 24 and March 3, 10 and 17.
There is no cost to participate, but pre-registration is required.
Each participant will receive a book and a relaxation CD.
