She was born Aug. 28, 1944, in Brazil, as the daughter of Clifford and Maxine Hudson Byers.
She graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1962.
She worked as the Administrative Assistant at First United Methodist Church of Brazil for 24 years and then she was employed at Riddell National Bank for 18 years until her retirement.
She married James Carlton June 25, 1966.
Nedra was a 50-year plus member of the First United Methodist Church. She was an active supporter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Relay For Life campaign.
Nedra enjoyed playing Euchre, rooting for the Chicago Cubs and the Indiana University Hoosiers' basketball team, and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws Sam and Louise Carlton.
She is survived by her husband James, daughters Diana Carlton, Avon, and Jana (Brian) Johnson, Brazil, grandson Grant Johnson, brother Gayle (Jane) Byers, Zionsville, sisters Julia Gallagher, Marietta, Ga., and Sandy (Howard) Shanks, Paris, Ill., sisters-in-law Jan (Doug) Anderson, Muncie, Ind., and Joan Zimmerman and significant friend Dennis Burch, Bloomington, Ind., several nieces, nephews, cousins and a close group of special friends.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, at Moore Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, at the First United Methodist Church of Brazil, 201 N. Meridian St., with burial to follow at Clearview Cemetery.
